[English] Report about a protest gathering in Burgos to condemn Alexis killing by the police

Diario de Vurgos
About 50 demonstrators gathered in Roma Square despite a large police deployment

11/12/2008.- During one hour more than 50 people gathered at Roma Square despite a large deployment of riot policemen from outside town and a reinforcement of local police. They cut all access to the square. Such deployment has not been seen since the riots that stopped Eladio Perlado parking.

Despite several identifications and intimidation, demonstrators let their anger to be heard at the screams of “killer police, go away, go away”, “police out the neighborhood”, “this is freedom of speech”.

From the beginning of the gathering the access to Roma Square were covered by riot policemen who were very intimidating. On the square there were two police trucks and a couple of local police cars. In the surroundings several police cars and trucks patrolled looking for people that arrived to the protest and went down to identify them. Those first to arrive were identified by the mercenary, about 15 riot policemen. When a group of people big enough had gathered and shouted slogans, the identification was stopped, including that of a guy that opposed it and was recording.

The gathering continued under a lot of pressure provoked by police presence, with people shouting slogans like “ the police kills”, “against the State and it’s violence, resistance now and forever”, “Police mercenaries out of the neighborhood”, “ The police torture and kill” , “They are not workers, they are mercenaries”, “Law and order watchdogs, killers with a salary, servants of power”, “Terrorist, who?, democracy , where?“.

Alter a while, a doll with the heart painted in red like blood was hanged on a tree, with a sign reading “Alexandros, 15 year old killed by Athens police on 12/06/2008”
Despite being strongly intimidated by the police, the gathering continued firm and with screams of anger. 6 riot policemen decided to walk away from the protest under the booing of the demonstrators.

Demonstrators spread out a banner reading “Here and in Greece, the police kills” and continued shouting slogans until a pamphlet was read calling to a gathering and explaining the killing of Alexis. The gathering was broken up in groups to avoid eventual arrests and groups were followed by riot policemen along several streets.
Afterwards the police continued patrolling the area and eventually went back to the town they’d come from.

This disgusting life we are forced to live under this system is getting to be more and more unbearable. We are not going to keep quiet before the cold blooded killing of a boy or before the shit of no-life. The state and the power of money are afraid that people revolts as in Greece. This is the reason they’ve sent their watchdogs to repress us. This just started, stirring days are coming, and social struggle will be more necessary and desirable. Today protests have taken place all over Spain and we hope this is just the beginning of protest and the beginning of hell to the rich and their mercenaries.
